Surgical extraction is a more complex procedure than common tooth extraction, but still normal work for experienced dentist. Surgical extraction is used if a tooth may have broken off at the gum line or has not erupted in the mouth as often is the case with impacted wisdom teeth.  Surgical tooth removal involves an incision being made in the gum and can involve the removal of some of the bone around the tooth in order to provide better access. How ever, no need to be worried. The bone will grow back to replace this removed bone as well as the empty socket where tooth has been in jaw bone.
